Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the self-proclaimed communist entity currently possessing Vietnam. Since the infamous Vietnam War, he has Westernized a lot and have allied with the United States of America against his fellow communist, China (This means that he is the only communist country that can be America’s ally).
Vietnam is a narrow and coastal country that borders China, Laos, and Cambodia and faces the Pacific Ocean from the east.
Lịch sử (History)
The communists defeated South Vietnam during the Vietnamese War in 1975, and united Vietnam under a communist government in 1956.
On November 3, 1978, Soviet Union and Vietnam signed a 25-year mutual defence treaty. Also in 1978, the murderous regime of Democratic Kampuchea started massacring bordering Vietnamese villages, and later invaded Vietnam, but was defeated. Then, with the help of the People's Republic of China, Khmer Rouge invaded again in the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese War, but Vietnam totally destroyed them.
In 1995, Vietnam restored relations and currently lifted the embargo with a former enemy, USA. Currently, he is having disputes with the greedy CCP regime in the South China Sea, who claims all of it.
Củ kỷ (Trivia)
- East Germany loved coffee, but it’s getting too expensive, and Brazil, the country mostly selling the coffee, had bad crop. So, East Germany asked the newly communist Vietnam for coffee. But by the time Vietnam built up his coffee industry and was ready to give East Germany his coffee, East Germany had already died. But now Vietnam is second largest coffee producer (behind Brazil).
Kinh tế (Economy)
Throughout the history of Vietnam, its economy has been based largely on agriculture—primarily wet rice cultivation. Bauxite, an important material in the production of aluminium, is mined in central Vietnam.
Under strict state control, Vietnam's economy continued to be plagued by inefficiency, corruption in state-owned enterprises, and poor quality and underproduction. With the decline in economic aid from his main trading partner, the Soviet Union, following the erosion of the Eastern Bloc in the late 1980s, and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as the negative impacts of the post-war trade embargo imposed by the United States, Vietnam began to liberalize his trade by devaluing his exchange rate to increase exports and embarked on a policy of economic development.
