Portugal

Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic or Third Portuguese Republic, is a country located in Eastern Southwestern Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula. He has been a member of the European Union since 1986, along with Spain. He shares borders with Spain and is bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. He his stunningly diverse landscape filled with rugged mountains and crystal-blue waters.

Portugal's national day is June 10th and he lies between latitudes 30° and 42° N, and longitudes 32° and 6° W. He also is a developed and high-income country. It has been joked that while geographically Portugal is in Western Europe, politically and economically he is in Eastern Europe.

História (History)

In 1975, the Carnation Revolution occurs, leading to the fall of the authoritarian Estado Novo regime. It marks the beginning of the transition to democracy in Portugal. Portugal also grants independence to its African colonies, and enters the European Economic Community, which later becomes the European Union.

On January 1, 1999, Portugal adopts the euro as its official currency, becoming a member of the Eurozone. Portugal also hosted UEFA Euro 2004. Later, he experienced economic crisis and had to loan from 🏳️ European Union. In 2020, he got infected with COVID-19.

On 28 April 2025, Portugal and Spain suffered a massive power outage, causing difficulties in varies areas such as communication and emergency services.
