Indonesia

Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a country made up of lots of islands, located in Southeast Asia. Due to his red and white flag, he is sometimes confused with Poland and Monaco. He is the fourth most populated country in the world, with a population of around 282,477,000 in 2024. He has a lot of volcanoes, and bamboos.

Sejarah (History)

In 1950, the United States of Indonesia dissolved. The Republic of Indonesia is formed, the current form of Indonesia we see today. Indonesia started to rebuild his economy from WWII (1939-1945) but weird things started happening as well, there was a lot of separatist scum such as Islamic State of Indonesia, Permesta, and also commie problem. He experienced political instability because of bad parliamentary system management. Between 1950–1959, there have been over 14 cabinet changes.

The PKI attempted a coup in 1965, which lead to a violent anti-communist purge, resulting in the deaths of between 500,000 and one million people and incarcerated roughly a million more in concentration camps.

In 1965, Indonesia left the United Nations due to a dispute with Malaysia. But the next year in 1966 he returned, still it makes him the only country to have ever left the UN willingly.

Indonesia was the country hardest hit by the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

The May 1998 riots of Indonesia also known as the 1998 tragedy or simply the 1998 event, were incidents of mass violence, demonstrations, and civil unrest of a racial nature that occurred throughout Indonesia.

As a multi-ethnic and multicultural democratic country with a Muslim-majority population, Indonesia faces the challenge of dealing with terrorism linked to global militant Islamic movements. Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), which is a terrorist organization that wants to make a Daulah Islamiyah (Islamic caliphate) across Southeast Asia, is responsible for a series of terrorist attacks in Indonesia. JI is linked to Al-Qaeda, and was responsible for the Bali bombings in 2002 and 2005, as well as Jakarta bombings in 2003, 2004, and 2009. The Indonesian government and authorities have tried to crack down on terrorist cells in Indonesia.

In early 2025, Indonesia joined BRICS as a full member.
