Template:CountryInfoJan Mayen is an island located in the Arctic Ocean, owned by Norway. No people live there except for some scientists, who doesn't pernamently live there either. Jan Mayen has two parts: larger northeast Nord-Jan and smaller Sør-Jan, linked by a 2.5 km (1.6 mi) wide isthmus.

The last polar bear on the island was spotted in 1990.

History

The Vikings have visited Jan Mayen, but it was properly discovered by the Dutch in 1614.
