Template:CountryInfoWa State is a communist Chinese puppet state in Myanmar. He likes to traffic drugs and fossils. While Wa State recognizes Myanmar's sovereignty over all of his clay, this does not include allegiance to any specific government except for the Chinese, making Wa State and independent state de-facto.

Wa State is PRC's unofficial jungle satellite. He is loyal enough, so he is rewarded with many arms from PRC. Wa State is quietly helping PRC keep northern Myanmar under his influence. PRC pretends not to see Wa State's fossil trafficking, drug production (meth & opium), and casino towns full of money laundering and Chinese gangsters.

History

Wa State was consolidated in the late 80s as the different ethnic groups split off from the Communist Party of Burma to form their own thing.

In the 90s, Wa State forcibly took a piece of enclave in the south from Myanmar, which's called "Southern Wa" by it, and adjacent to Thailand.

Wa State conducted a campaign against Christian churches built after 1992 in September 2018.

Society

Mandarin is the language spoken by the people of Wa State government. Southwest Mandarin Chinese and Wa are widely spoken by the population, with the language of education being Standard Chinese. Television broadcasts within Wa State are broadcast in both Mandarin and Wa. Commodities within Wa State are brought over from PRC, and the renminbi (PRC coinage) is commonly used for exchanges.

The most-practiced religion, outnumbering Islam, Buddhism and folk religions, is Christianity, even though there are frequent crackdowns on Christians conducted by the secular government.

Law

The legal system in Wa State is based on the civil law system, with reference to the laws of PRC. As of at least 2015, Wa State imposes the death penalty (which is abolished at the national level in Myanmar) for armed assault, rape, murder, and child abuse. After being sentenced to death, prisoners are sent directly to the execution ground.

Labour camps exist in Wa State and relatives of those who are imprisoned or conscripted are often taken hostage by the state. The state is governed by a network of Maoist insurgents, headmen, businessmen, and traders, without democratic elections or the rule of law.

Most people do not have Chinese or Myanmar ID cards, but Wa State ID cards are often recognizes in those countries. It is easy for citizens to enter them if they avoid the official border crossings.
