Syria, officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a 
jihadist country located in 
West Asia and the 
Levant. He borders 
Mediterranean Sea to the west, 
Türkiye to the north, 
Iraq to the east and southeast, 
Jordan to the south, plus 
Israel and 
Lebanon to the southwest.
It is quite of concerning that the Syrian government is filled with Islamists that causes harm to minorities such as 
Christians, 
Druze and 
Alawites, massacres have been committed.
The name "Syria" historically referred to a wider region, broadly synonymous with the Levant, and known in 
Arabic as al-Sham. The modern state encompasses the sites of several ancient kingdoms and empires.
History
In late 2024, Syrian Opposition alliance launched a big operation and destroyed 
Ba'athist Syria on December 8th. A new government was set up by the opposition, though still using the same official name (Syrian Arab Republic). The war had left Syria's economy in a poor state, exacerbated by many still-remaining international sanctions.
Immediately after the fall of Assad, Israel invaded Syria, claiming it to be a temporary peacekeeping measure. Israel started to destroy a bunch of chemical weapons in Syria so they couldn't fell into the wrong hands (such as the jihadists, since they made up a big chunk of the opposition alliance).
The president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, was a former jihadist. Many minorities feared that his rule would be bad news for them, but Ahmed said he wanted to build an inclusive Syria with guaranteed rights for minorities. In the first few months, it looked like everything was going well with surprisingly little interethnic violence.
On Janurary 10 2025, there was a stampede at the 
Umayyad Mosque located in Damascus that killed 4 and injured 16.
In March 2025, Loyalist Assadist insurgencies have been clashing with Syria. Fighting increased significantly and escalated after large-scale attacks by the pro-Assadists on 6 March 2025. During these clashes, both sides committed a massacre on more than 1500 Alawite civilians.
On 21 March 2025, Israel launched air strikes on Syria again. On 22 March 2025, Israel attacked the airport of Palmyra.
In May 2025, celebrations among the Syrian people happen as 
US president 
Donald Trump decide to lift all sanctions (from the Ba'athist era) off of Syria to give him a chance.
An Islamist attacker, allegedly affiliated with 
ISIS, shot up an 
Orthodox church in Damascus before suiciding by bomb on 22 June. At least 25 people have been killed and 63 others wounded.
In July 2025, Jihadists have been slaughtering countless Druze communities in southern Syria, filming themselves committing atrocities and bragging about while shouting "Allahu Akhbar". Doctors and patients are executed in hospitals, their bodies piled like trash in blood covered corridors, patients are gunned down in their beds, children, elderly and anyone in between, the innocent Druze civilians are hunted down in their own homes, being forced to jump off balconies under gunpoint, bodies are laying all over the streets with the Jihadists running them over in cars again and again while posting themselves on social media. You have to ask yourself this question: where are all the influencers, celebrities, campus activists, the media personalities, these self-proclaimed 
humanitarians who cried for 
Gaza now? None have spoken a word!
The 
Bedouins in Syria have accused the Druze of attacking their communities, and are seeking revenge. Those threats have turned into clashes on the ground. Syria tried to make a shaky ceasefire, but the Druze don't feel protected because the new Syrian military is filled with the very Bedouins that seek vengeance. In August, Israel has acted on behalf of his citizens demanding safety for their Druze relatives across the border. In a surprising move, Israel has opened his border with Syria, allowing Druze to cross into Syria with weapons to defend their families.
On 29 October 2025, Syria officially recognized the 
Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
Geography
Syria is bordered by Turkey to the north and northwest, Jordan to the south and southeast, Iraq to the east and southeast, and Lebanon and then Israel to the southwest.
Syria is spread across an area of 185,180 square kilometres (71,500 sq mi), making it 87th largest country in the world.
Syria contains four terrestrial ecoregions, all with long and fancy names: 
Syrian Xeric Grasslands and Shrublands, 
Eastern Mediterranean Conifer-Sclerophyllous-Broadleaf Forests, Southern Anatolian Montane Conifer and Deciduous Forests, and 
Mesopotamian Shrub Desert.
