Catholic Theocracy, sometimes shortened to CathTheo, is an 🏳️ authoritarian, 🏳️ culturally right, and economically center to center-left 🏳️ theocratic ideology inhabiting the upper center political compass. CathTheo seeks to have the values of the 🏳️ Catholic faith upheld as the law and to have a state very closely tied to the 🏳️ Catholic Church.

History

The concept of Catholic Theocracy has his roots in the early formation of the 🏳️ Church. After the collapse of the 🏳️ Western Roman Empire in the 5th century, the 🏳️ Catholic Church emerged as one of the most powerful institutions in 🏳️ Europe, assuming not only spiritual authority but also significant political influence.

The first true Catholic Theocracy was established in 756 when 🏳️ Pope Stephen II sought protection from the 🇩🇪 Lombards and received land in the 🏳️ Italian Peninsula from the 🏳️ Frankish king 🏳️ Pepin the Short. This territory, later expanded by 🏳️ Pepin's son 🏳️ Charlemagne, became the 🏳️ Papal States, which were governed directly by the pope until 1870.

When the 19th century came around, 🏳️ Italy had a goal to unite the Italian peninsula, and the Papal States was one of Italy's obstacles. When the Italians captured 🏳️ Rome, the Pope began to be considered as the "🏳️Prisoner in the Vatican". The Papal-Italian dispute, called the Roman Question, began and continued until 1929, when the 🏳️ Italian fascist regime decided to let the Vatican independent in exchange for recognition of the fascist government. But even so then, the Vatican called for 🏳️ peace for all nations during World War II.

The 🏳️ Vatican City remains as the only Catholic Theocracy today. Despite being only 🏳️ 109 acres, the Vatican City has continued to have influence on over 1.4 billion 🏳️ Catholics internationally to this day.

Beliefs

Catholic Theocracy believes that church and state are inseparable and that the Head of the Catholic Church (Pope) should also act as the Head of State.

Catholic Theocracy considered the 🏳️ Jewish people as a collective responsible for the killing of 🏳️ Christ. He was also 🏳️ anti-Judaist, 🏳️ Judaism was considered a null religion and several attempts for conversion into 🏳️ Catholicism were made. All that changed after CVII in 1965.
