Any nation's flag, bears its own color. The sky (above us), does ours look like!
Somalia’s Anthem

Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia, is a poor country located on the hook Horn of Africa. He once produced pirates, but never a stable central government. Somalia used to be a rich, overflowing and beautiful country well known for the beauty of sea and beautiful Arabic architecture until the Cold War when he became broke. As of 2024, Somalia remains the most corrupt country in the world.

Somalia has so much pirates that people began to call and stereotype Somalia himself a pirate. The reason Somalia has so much pirates is because he hadn’t had a stable government since 1991, the economy was in shambles and illegal foreign fishing left the people with no income. But with so many ships passing by, piracy became a stable income source.

Taariikhda (History)

The year 2012 marked a pivotal moment with the end of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG) and the establishment of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), led by president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. A provisional comstitution was adopted, aiming to stabilize the nation and promote democratic governance. Between 2013 and 2016, Somalia faced ongoing security challenges as the government, supported by the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM), continued to battle the Jihadist Al-Shabaab militant group, which maintained control over large rural areas and carried out frequent attacks. The federalization process began during this period, leading to the formation of autonomous federal member states like Jubaland, Southwest, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle. In 2016, Somalia held indirect parliamentary elections, marking a step toward democratic governance, and Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, known as "Farmajo," was elected president in early 2017.

From 2017 to 2020, Somalia continued to grapple with security issues, with Al-Shabaab remaining a potent threat, conducting attacks in Mogadishu and other parts of the country. Efforts to rebuild the national army and police force were ongoing but faced significant obstacles. The country also experienced severe droughts in 2017, leading to food shortages and humanitarian crises, with millions of Somalis requiring aid. During this time, the central government faced disputes with federal member states over resource sharing, power distribution, and the electoral process, resulting in political instability.

In 2021, electoral delays led to a constitutional crisis, with president Farmajo’s mandate officially ending in February but elections not being held. The political crisis escalated into violence in April 2021, with clashes in Mogadishu between government forces and opposition groups. A May 2021 agreement set a new timeline for elections, aiming to resolve the standoff. Despite several delays, Somalia completed his indirect elections in May 2022, with Hassan Sheikh Mohamud re-elected as president, marking his second non-consecutive term. However, Al-Shabaab remains a significant threat, continuing to carry out attacks despite ongoing military operations.

The humanitarian situation in Somalia remains dire, with severe drought, food insecurity, and displacement affecting millions. International and humanitarian organizations remain actively involved in providing aid. The relationship between the federal government and member states remains complex and sometimes contentious, impacting efforts to implement federalism effectively.
