Palestine
Palestine, officially the State of Palestine is an 
Arabic country in the southern 
Levant region of West Asia recognized by 145 out of 193 
UN member states. He is always at 
war or high stakes with 
Israel. He currently rules over two stretches of land that are not connected to each other, the 
West Bank (ruled by 
Fatah) and the 
Gaza Strip (ruled by 
Hamas and operated by Hama's militant group 
Al-Qassam Brigades).
History
On 15 November 1988, the Palestinian National Council (PNC) declared the 
independence of the State of Palestine, recognized within the 1967 borders, with 
East Jerusalem as his capital. 
Yasser Arafat, the Chairman of the 
Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), made the declaration during a meeting in 
Algiers. This was seen as a step towards a two-state solution.
From 30 October to 1 November 1991, it was the Madrid Conference: hosted at 
Madrid (of course), 
Spain and sponsored by the 
Great Powers 
, this conference aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, leading to more direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. This continued on to the 
Oslo accords between 1993 and 1995. The accords resulted in mutual recognition and created the Palestinian Authority (PA) to govern parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In the year 2000, USA worked his ass off to make a deal for Palestine that Israel actually agreed on. At Camp David, Palestine was offered a deal of a lifetime: Israel agreed to dismantle settlements and create a separate Palestinian state with the capital at East Jerusalem. It was a historic and unprecedented compromise that shocked the 
world. But even this, which would have been a major breakthrough in the creation of a legitimate Palestine, was not good enough for Yasser Arafat, who walked away without any counter-offer or negotiations. USA was pissed. Instead of brining his people 
peace or at least a stepping stone that will greatly benefit the Palestinian cause, Arafat returned home to prepare for war. Weeks later, the Second Intifada erupted. 
Pro-Palestinians say that 
Palestinian violence is just a desperate cry for a state. However, Palestine's answer to a peace treaty was suicide bombers walking into crowded pizzerias, blowing up teenagers waiting outside a dance club, and incinerating entire families on public buses, even when they had a sovereign state right in their hands they chose a campaign of mass murder. Because it was never about building a state, it was about 
destroying one.
Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005, and the Palestinian organization Hamas took control of the region after a Palestinian internal conflict between Hamas and Fatah. Now, Hamas continued with the 
armed struggle against Israel while other Palestinians decided to act in 
political areas. Hamas ands Israel occasionally start killing each other, with the first firing rockets at Israel and the latter doing heavy bombing against Gaza. Such conflict in Palestinian clay occurred in 2006, 2008-9, 2012, 2014, and 2021.
On 7 October 2023, Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas) attacked Israel, leading to the latter attacking Palestine back and starting a war. This war caused major devastation in Gaza, however the population numbers were not affected. The Gaza war was brought to an end when peace treaty from 
Trump took effect in 2025.
Etymology
The term "Palestine" comes from the ancient geo-political entity "
Philistia", who are a group of people that settled around the Gaza Strip. The 
Romans later named the Levant region "Palestine" (Philistia) to mock the 
Jews since they consider the place their Holy Land.

UN-classified Palestinian refugees are born in other countries and have never set foot in the land of Palestine. Palestinians are the only refugee group whose status passes down by blood, meaning the descendants of 1948 refugees are still counted. (In regular cases, refugee status ends once a person is resettled or citizenship is acquired) - Palestinians are the only refugee group with their own dedicated UN refugee agency.
