Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), more commonly known to foreigners as simply Iran, also 🟢 historically known as Persia, is a 🟢 totalitarian 🟢 Islamic theocracy located in 🟢 West Asia. He hates 🟢 America, and always chants "Death to America". Iran views himself as the proud protector of 🟢 Islamic values and 🟢 Shia Islam, rooted deeply in his revolutionary ideology that shaped him after 1979. While constantly at odds with the West, especially 🟢 America and 🟢 Israel (whom he calls "Great Satan" and “Little Satan"), Iran sees himself as a defiant, resilient country that is standing against "🟢 imperialist" forces. As such, Iran is currently the head of 🟢 Anti-Israeli and 🟢 Anti-American activities and rhetoric across the 🟢 world, and is also the #1 sponsor of 🟢 terrorism.

Iran is extremely 🟢 religious, and many countries feel uneasy around him due to his nuclear program (which he tried to hide) and 🟢 aggressiveness. He desperately wants to be the leader of the Islamic world. The sense of loyalty to a government/country is not strong as the loyalty to one's tribe/sect in the 🟢 Arabic world, so Iran's constant push for 🟢 Shia unity have many 🟢 Sunni countries worried. Plus, his funding of the 🟢 Houthis disturbs the waters, further annoying his fellow Muslims. Iran has multiple proxies for fighting against 🟢 Israel, such as 🟢 Hezbollah and 🟢 Hamas.

انقلاب اسلامی (Islamic Revolution)

In 1979, in the Iranian Revolution, 🟢 leftist students, 🟢 communists, and 🟢 Muslims all united and overthrew the 🟢 Pahlavi 🟢 monarchy which was replaced by a 🟢 totalitarian 🟢 Islamist Shia theocratic "republic" lead by 🟢 Supreme Leader and representative of 🟢 God 🟢 Ruhollah Khomeini. The leftists celebrated, thinking they defeated 🟢 capitalism and 🟢 imperialism. It didn't last long. The new government wanted no time in purging their former and naive leftist allies, who thought the new regime would somehow tolerate their wokeness. Around 30,000 leftists (🟢 useful idiots) who helped the 🟢 Islamic regime consolidate power were soon 🟢 executed. 🟢 American supporters were also kidnapped. They served their purpose and were no longer needed, as the Muslims had always despised their progressive ideals and couldn't wait to get rid of them. 🟢 Laws and schools were Islamized, 🟢 women were now forced to wear black dresses/robes (hijabs) completely covering every inch of their body, sometimes including their face.

The media and TV underwent drastic changes. IRI sought to align all communications to his 🟢 ideological and 🟢 religious principles. Media content was heavily censored to remove Western influences and 🟢 secular themes and anything deemed as unislamic. This included banning music, films and programs that promoted pre-revolution values or Western culture. TV programming shifted to emphasize religious content, revolutionary propaganda, and state-approved narratives.

The 🟢 shah, now out of power, went to the U.S. to seek cancer treatment after other countries denied him entry. Supporters of the revolution were 🟢 paranoid that this was a step toward a coup to reinstate the Shah's reign. On 4 November 1979, Iranian students seized US embassy personnel, labeling the embassy a "den of spies". 52 hostages were held for 444 days until January 1981.

🟢 Iraq sees the chaos in Iran and decides to invade in 1980. This 🟢 war, known as the Iran-Iraq War or the First Gulf War, lasted for 8 years, killing 450,000-500,000 people. It finally ended in 1988, and both sides claim victory, though no territory was changed, making it a useless waste of life and time.

In 1984, while the Iran-Iraq war was raging, 🟢 United States sanctions prohibited weapon sales and all U.S. assistance to Iran. And following that, Iran has been bombarded with sanctions 🟢 internationally. Plus, the mullahs who rules the country were 🟢 corrupt and squandered most of the resources. Iran ended up in Cold War against 🟢 Saudi Arabia, 🟢 USA, and 🟢 Israel.

On his deathbed in 1989, Supreme Leader 🟢 Khomeini appointed a 25-man 🟢 constitutional 🟢 reform council which named 🟢 Ali Khamenei as the next Supreme Leader, and made changes to Iran's constitution. While Khamenei lacked Khomeini's "charisma and clerical standing", he developed a network of supporters within the 🟢 armed forces and their 🟢 economically powerful 🟢 religious foundations.

In 1999, Iranian student protested against the closure of the 🟢 reformist newspaper, 🟢 Salam. Following the demonstrations, a student dormitory was raided by riot police that night on 8 July during which a student was killed. The raid sparked six days of demonstrations and rioting throughout the country, during which at least three other people were killed and more than 200 injured. 1,000-1,500 people were arrested.

On 8 May 2018, President 🟢 Donald Trump declared that the 🟢 USA was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) and would stop sending money and reinstate sanctions against Iran.

In 2021, 🟢 PRC and Iran signed a $400 billion comprehensive strategic partnership involving PRC doing massive Belt and Road Initiative investments in exchange for oil at a discount. Although, given the Belt and Road Initiative's history, that may have wound up doing more structural damage than 🟢 Israeli bombings.

Massive protests against the Iranian government began on 16 September 2022 over the death of 🟢 Mahsa Amini, and it was brutally suppressed, at least 551 protesters including 68 minors were killed, as many as 19262 arrested. These protests carried to 2023 and eventually died down.

In 2024 the 🟢 Ba'athist Syria was overthrown, which is very bad for Iran, since it cuts of his link to his important puppet ally 🟢 Hezbollah. Ba'athist Syria was also one of the only pro-Iran allies for Iran in the region, and the 🟢 new government is anti-Iran. Iran is now more focused on secretly making long-range missiles and nuclear weapons. In April 2024, Iran attacked Israel directly from Iranian soil without the help of proxies.

On 13 June 2025, 🟢 Israel striked Iran's important research sites and generals, destroying his hope of becoming a nuclear power. Enraged, he sent more than 100 rockets bombing indiscriminately against Israel. The Iran-Israel War, also known as the 12-Day War, started. 🟢 Trump posted on 🟢 Twitter that everyone should evacuate 🟢 Tehran immediately, and citizens have rushed to do so. Air defense systems that the 🟢 PRC gave Iran proved to be ineffective. The 🟢 USA flew over Iran, bombing 3 key nuclear sites before leaving. On 24 June, Iran brokered a 🟢 peace deal under U.S. pressure.

Starting on 28 December 2025, massive protests erupted all across Iran against the Islamic Republic over a failing economy and many other issues. They intensified as the world went into 2026, to the scale unseen since the Islamic revolution of 1979. In all provinces protestors poured into the streets, chanting "Death to the 🟢 Dictator", smashing PRC-made security cameras, burning mosques, replacing street signs with "Trump Street" and burning the Supreme Leader 🟢 Ali Khamenei's picture with lit cigarettes in mouth. Women tore off their hijabs and couples linked arms against the police. The Iranian regime ordered mass killings, arrests and 🟢 executions without fair trial. Not wanting the protests and massacres to be acknowledged by the outside world, Iran closed off 🟢 internet access to his population on 8 January 2026, but thanks to 🟢 Elon Musk's Starlink satellites people were able to bypass that. Western mainstream media and "humanitarian" activists have reported little to nothing on this despite the importance of this event, as it didn't fit their delusional 🟢 Palestine narrative. For a time too long, the only news you can find about the protests are firsthand raw clips posted onto 🟢 X. More than 12,000 protesters have been killed as of 16 January. The Iranian currency has collapsed, with one Iranian rial equating to 0.0 American dollars. Iran is also injecting large doses of 🟢 potassium into the injured protesters in hospitals, so they would die within 2 days after being released.

On 28 February 2026, Israel and the US launched a joint attack on various targets in Iran, codenamed Roaring Lion by the former and Operation Epic Fury by the latter. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who had prepared his entire life for a final war against the Little and Great Satans, was blown to ashes during those strikes. Iran announced a 40-day mourning period. Ali's son 🟢 Mojtaba was declared the new Supreme Leader but was wounded by US-Israeli strikes soon after and Iran had to replace him with a cardboard cutout.

In April, a temporary ceasefire is called and the IRI decides to blockade the 🟢 Strait of Hormuz, causing the US to blockade him back. During the ceasefire, the Islamic Republic continues to kill Iranian civilians and replacing them with foreign 🟢 Shi'ite Muslims that support the regime. In May, Iran began 🟢 executing people for using Starlink or VPNs. Hardline IRI supporters began to call out for the deaths of top Iranian officials for attempting to accept a 🟢 ceasefire deal with the 🟢 Americans.
