Iceland
Iceland is a
Nordic country located in the
Atlantic Ocean. He does not border any other countries due to being an island, but is still relatively close to
Greenland. He is the safest country, but haves lots of volcanoes.
Due to being a highly Westernized and developed country located in Northwest Europe, Iceland has been able to gain membership in
NATO,
Arctic Council, and the
Nordic Council, and of course the
United Nations. Today he is considering to join
European Union, though this might upset his close brother
Norway because he and
Norway are the only two Nordic countries to have not have joined the EU due to
neutrality and stuff.
Saga (History)
In 1944, shortly before WWII ended, Iceland decided to declare himself an independent
republic.
After WWII, Iceland decided to join
NATO as a founding member in 1949, despite being the only one with no standing army. Due to modernization efforts and the infrastructure boost during WWII, Iceland developed extremely rapidly, essentially turning from a Middle-Age country to a fully modern European nation within years. Despite his seemingly excellent
economy, in reality, he was in debt and his economy was at risk of falling from even a slight disturbance.
During the Great Recession, he began to consider joining the
European Union, after seeing how fragile his own economy was. The 2008–2011 Icelandic financial crisis caused a massive recession, and there was regular and growing protests since October 2008 against the Icelandic government's handling of the crisis. These protests, nicknamed "Kitchenware", "Kitchen Implement", and the "Pots and Pans Revolution", intensified on 20 January 2009 with thousands of people protesting at the
Icelandic parliament. To make matters worse, a subglacial volcano named
Eyjafjallajökull erupted in 2010, spewing large ash clouds and halting air travel in Northern Europe and America.
However, when Iceland began to make a rapid recovery, he dropped the idea of joining EU. During the Great Recession, Iceland tried to promote tourism to aid his decimated economy, advertising his landscape and attracting large amounts of tourists. Even today, Iceland is still a very popular tourist destination, we are number one.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in the early 2020s, Iceland managed the situation effectively with widespread testing, robust contact tracing, and strict quarantine measures. The country maintained relatively low infection and death rates, leveraging his small population and strong healthcare system to quickly contain outbreaks and ensure public safety.
In October 2025, Iceland found the first mosquitos living in his clay. KILL KILL KILL!
Fiskur (Fish)
Icelandic fish, renowned for its high quality and rich flavors, plays a crucial role in the country's
culture,
cuisine, and
economy. Surrounded by some of the
world's most pristine and nutrient-rich waters, Iceland is home to an abundance of fish species, including cod, haddock, and
Atlantic salmon. The fishing industry, a cornerstone of the Icelandic economy, emphasizes sustainable practices to ensure the long-term health of marine ecosystems. Icelandic fish is celebrated for its freshness and is often prepared using
traditional methods such as smoking, curing, or simply grilling to highlight its natural taste. Signature dishes like "plokkfiskur" (a fish stew) and "harðfiskur" (dried fish) showcase the versatility and importance of fish in Icelandic culinary heritage.
