Ohio is a Midwestern state in the 🟒 United States. He usually is portrayed as a β€œrawr” due to his non-rectangular flag shape. In addition, he sometimes is portrayed as a 🟒 dog (or other pet) of the United States. He is nicknamed the Buckeye State for the prevalence of buckeye trees in his clay.

In many respects, Ohio has come to reflect the urbanized, 🟒 industrialized, and 🟒 ethnically mixed United States that developed from an earlier 🟒 agrarian period. The pattern of his life is so representative of the country as a whole that he is often used to test attitudes, ideas, and commercial products.

History

Ohio was the first state to be carved from the 🟒 Northwest Territory. He became the 17th member of 🟒 the union on 1 March 1803.

An increasing number of immigrants from eastern and southern 🟒 Europe came to Ohio after 1880. By 1920 large numbers of 🟒 Italians, 🟒 Poles, 🟒 Hungarians, 🟒 Russians, and other groups had come to Ohio's 🟒 industrial cities.

In 1895, there were only two cars in Ohio. Despite this, they still managed to crash into each other.

In 2022, Ohio became a viral popular 🟒 meme on the 🟒 internet. The meme includes people taking videos with 🟒 horrific or 🟒 surreal anomalies and adding the caption with something like "average day in Ohio" or "can't do nothing in Ohio", usually paired with the "Down in Ohio Swag like Ohio" music, in order to depict Ohio as this weird alien place. After this meme died, the word "Ohio" became associated with 🟒 Gen-Alpha brainrot.

In 2023, on 3 February, a train was derailed in 🟒 East Palestine, resulting in dangerous chemicals entering his clay.

Flag

Ohio's flag is a distinctive triangular swallowtail flag. Its red, white, and blue elements symbolize the state's natural features and order of admission into the 🟒 Union. A prominent disc in the flag's triangular canton is suggestive of the state's name. The flag was adopted in 1902.

The flag was designed in 1901 by 🟒 John Eisenmann for the 🟒 Pan-American Exposition and adopted in 1902. Before that, for nearly a century after statehood, Ohio did not have a legally authorized state flag. One unsuccessful proposal had called for a design based on the state seal.

Ohio has adopted an official salute to the flag and the official folding procedure gives it 17 folds. The Ohio flag has influenced a number of logos and municipal flags within the state.
