Vatican City, also known as the Holy See or the Vatican, is a small city-state located inside Italy. He is the smallest country in the world, only having a total land area of 109 acres. He is very religious and is also the home of the pope. Everything he does is usually to convince others to follow
Jesus, because to him, religion is what matters most.
Vatican cultural life has much declined since the Renaissance, when the popes were among Italy’s foremost patrons of the arts. Vatican has his own library, the
Vatican Apostolic Library, which contains a priceless collection of some 150,000 manuscripts and 1.6 million printed books, many from
pre-Christian and
early Christian times.
History
Established as an independent city-state in 1929 through the Lateran Treaty and was recognized by Fascist Italy. Vatican City remained neutral during World War II and played a humanitarian role by providing aid to refugees. Diplomatic relations were established with the
United States in 1984, while in 2001,
Pope John Paul II issued a historic apology for past errors of 2000 years of the Catholic Church. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 affected Vatican operations, prompting the cancellation of public events and the adoption of safety measures.
