In 1993, the monarchy has been restored with Norodom Sihanouk reinstated as a king, the first war post election has been coordinated by UNTAC. The election was won by National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC) led by Sihanouk's son Ranariddh in a hung parliament.
