Rumia is a town located in northern Poland, with some 45,000 inhabitants. She is also associated with and is the origin place of Rumia, a Youkai cannibal from the Touhou Project video game.

History

Rumia formed part of Poland since the establishment of the state in the 10th century. The village of Rumia (then Rumina) was first mentioned in 1224 when she was awarded by Swietopelk II. She was part of Poland until 1309, when State of the Teutonic Order came and annexed her.

Germany's defeat in World War I gave Poles hope for the restoration of an independent Poland. The Poles established a local Polish library, and on December 29, 1918 the first Polish pro-independence rally took place in Rumia.
