Homophobia, more accurately named Anti-Homosexuality or Heteronormativity, is the opposition to homosexuality, bisexuality, and/or affirming the superiority of normal relations. He is usually culturally right, though in theory anyone on the political spectrum can be homophobic. He is an anti-ideology, therefore his scope is very large. Homophobia manifests in a range of ways, in most cases in the form of passive distaste or avoidance of gays and advocating for homosexual agendas/teachings to be removed from society (especially schools). Homophobia in the sphere of political leaders include policies that does active discrimination and harassment against gays to downright assault, murder, persecution, and genocide. Homophobia can also be applied to anyone who indirectly opposes gay marriage by supporting the traditional family model, whether believing it disrupts social order or causes moral decay. He is sexually conservative, usually advocating for asceticism or the "ideal relationship".

Outside of Heterodontosaurus Balls, the term "homophobia" is often used as a slander and pejorative by the radical left. The word commonly used as attempted guilt by association and/or name calling.

History

Ancient

Homophobia has existed as long as homosexual behavior has existed. However, it was not as prominent in the ancient ages as homosexuality wasn't common back then. And generally, lesbianism was nonexistent. Back in those ages gender and sexuality ideology and "identity" did not exist, at the very least not in the same way in modern times. Homosexuality is not an identity, but an immoral behavior.

Many modern so-called scholars rewrite history by taking the few instances of homosexuality and extrapolating it to the extreme or taking platonic texts between friends and frame them as romantic or sexual, while ignoring clear social norms at the time. It is indeed true that homosexuality, along with numerous other forms of degeneracy have plagued ancient societies while in moral decay, usually leading to a plague, disaster or their fall.

The Middle Assyrian Laws, developed 1450 BC-1250 BC, states that if a man has intercourse with his brother-in-arms, he shall be forcibly castrated and turned into a eunuch.

In Ancient Greece gay people were publicly humiliated by having a radish stuck up their rear end. Philosophers like Plato and Aristotle described homosexuality as "unnatural".

Julius Caesar's municipal charter for Italian towns included rules that barred known homosexuals from sitting alongside decent citizens at public gatherings, reflecting widespread local values outside of Rome. Roman Republic citizens also supported laws that protected boys against seduction and rape. The Roman society, with their sexually conservative and masculinist views, looked down upon degenerates such as the submissive men in gay relationships, restricting their rights in many ways. While homosexuality wasn't banned, it is heavily implied that it the majority of people did not like the gays, such as popular plays heavily slandering and berating gay people.

Meanwhile, in China, the spread and adaptation of Confucianism strengthened the Asiatic people and society's distain for sexual deviancies which were an important part of gay culture, leading the East Asia cultural sphere to become even more sexually conservative than they were before. Homosexuality was never banned in pre- Yuan China because it was never a big enough nor widespread problem, but heterosexuality was championed and viewed as superior. Buddhist influences also advocated for celibacy if not homophobia; homosexuality was classified as violating the third of the five percepts, a moral code laid out by the Buddha.

Middle

With the spread of Christianity in the 1st century AD, homophobia became more intense throughout Europe. Inherited from Judaism, gays were mentioned explicitly in the Holy Scripture as sinful and deserving of punishment. Thus, harsh punishments were installed for those who commit sodomy. Church writers like Augustine (354-430) and Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-1274) argued that same-sex relations violated natural law, and these views strongly influenced medieval law. Punishments could include fines, public shaming, exile, prison, and execution.

In the sixth century, Byzantine emperor Justinian introduced laws against same-sex sexuality, referring to such acts as "contrary to nature". The Syro-Roman law book, which was influential in the Middle Eastern legal tradition and especially in Lebanon, prescribed the death penalty for homosexuality. In the Middle Ages, sodomy was linked to heresy, witchcraft and foreign influence.

With the rise of Islam in the early 7th century, the Muslim caliphates carried on homophobic laws inherited from Judaism, Christianity and some pre-Islamic Arabian paganism. The Muslims would come to be much harsher on punishing gays than the Jews and Christians ever be.

The Song Dynasty was the first era of China where outright prohibitions on homosexuality were implemented, banning male prostitution and crossdressing. The Mongol Empire and Yuan Dynasty were even more strict regarding the issue, treating it with more hostility. These legal codes and mindset continued in the later Ming and Qing dynasties.

In the Americas, Aztec punishments existed for certain acts (severe penalties include death), and there were terms like "cuiloni" (roughly "queer" or effeminate man) used pejoratively. The Florentine Codex describe homosexual men in derogatory terms (e.g., as "perverse" or associated with vice), with social attitudes ranging from disgust to ridicule. Official Inca policy, according to chroniclers like Garcilaso de la Vega and Pedro Cieza de León, prohibited homosexuality ("sodomy"), with severe punishments reported, such as burning alive or harsh public penalties for those labeled "sodomites". It was viewed as vile, cowardly, or offensive to societal order, with emphasis on procreation, family structures, and imperial control.

In 1533, the Buggery Act was passed in England, banning homosexuality and bestiality. This was the first secular homophobic law in England. The homophobia of the English continued well into the 18th and 19th centuries, bringing them also into their colonies. Section 377 was passed in the British Raj in 1860 by the British Empire, criminalizing all sexual acts that goes against the order of nature, including homosexuality.

Early Modern

In Africa, various traditional communities condemned homosexuality. To add on to that, the Europeans came and colonized them and added anti-gay laws. Many former Europeans colonies still continue the anti-gay laws from colonial times despite hating their colonizers.

Originally an English colony, even the United States, the most powerful country, would be homophobic as well. Most countries in the world were homophobic.

During the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Chinese mocked and insulted Puyi and the Japanese as homosexuals and presented it as proof of their perversion and being uncivilized.

Contemporary

US president George W. Bush, elected in 2001, pushed for more anti-gay laws, even though his vice president Dick Cheney supported the gays personally.

Etymology

The term "homophobia" was termed by George Weinberg in the mid-1960s. It is used to refer to the destain or hatred against gay people, but that is not what the root word means at all: "homo" means "same" and "phobia" means "irrational fear". When you put the two together, the word should mean "irrational fear of gay people". However, Weinberg believed that those who do not like gays are suffering from an irrational mental illnesses that makes them unstable.

The power of being able to falsely label a group as "mentally unstable" is huge. You can lock them up against their will or excuse certain behaviors. We can see clearly that the etymology of the word "homophobia" makes no logical sense, nor is it natural. It is an outlier from the usual "hate" words, such as Misandry or Misogyny. There is an explicit agenda behind the creation of the word, labeling people you disagree with as having a "psychological malady".
