The nation demands a movement which has written upon its banner the internal and external national freedom that it will act as if it were the spiritual, social and political conscience of the nation.
🏳️ Franz von Papen

National Conservatism (NatCon) is a statist, 🏳️ culturally right-wing, civically and economically variable, but usually 🏳️ Authoritarian Right, and 🏳️ nationalist ideology who intends to preserve traditions, national and cultural identity as well as emphasizing the protection of national interests, mixing elements of 🏳️ conservatism with nationalism. He has a strict sense of 🏳️ law and order, is generally nationalistic, favors immigration regulation, and values both nation and family.

It's important to not confuse NatCon and 🏳️ AuthCon. Despite both ideologies holding the same stances on social and cultural issues, NatCon is concerned about the 🏳️ nation, while AuthCon is more about 🏳️ state power, with the latter sometimes being anti-nationalist.

History

The seeds of National Conservatism go back to traditional 🏳️ conservatism (think 🏳️ Edmund Burke) plus 19th-century 🏳️ nationalism (especially in 🏳️ Europe). However, many people in ancient times had views and/or values that would be considered "National Conservative" if held up to modern standards.

In the 20th century, many conservative movements in Europe and the 🏳️ US began blending national identity, 🏳️ social conservatism, and economic pragmatism. In America, NatCon existed in pieces among certain post-WWII conservatives, but wasn't named yet.

The national conservatives found success in 🇦🇲 Armenia through their party 🏳️ Republican Party of Armenia. This party ruled the country from 1999 all the way until 2018.

The formal movement called "National Conservatism" began taking shape in 2019, with the launch of the first National Conservatism Conference organized by the 🏳️ Edmund Burke Foundation.

Yes to the natural family, no to the 🏳️ LGBT lobby. Yes to sexual identity, no to 🏳️ gender ideology. Yes to the culture of life, no to the abyss of death.
The kind of society that 🏳️ Japan should aim at is a society in which the efforts of people are rewarded, a society in which there is no stratification into winners and losers, and a society in which ways of working, learning, and living are diverse and multi-tracked — in other words, a society of opportunity where everyone has a chance to challenge again.
