Algeria, officially full name People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, is a huge country located in northern Africa. He is the 10th largest country in the world, and also borders the 
Mediterranean Sea towards the north.
History
After gaining independence from 
France in 1962, Algeria adopted a 
socialist model. But this was dropped as the entire 
communist world in Africa was collapsing.
A growing 
Islamic movement and no political freedom are not good things together. The cancellation of elections in 1992, which the 
Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) was poised to win, led to a violent conflict between the government and Islamist militants. This caused the Algerian Civil War, which lasted for 10 years and 4 weeks. Finally, the government offered amnesty to militants who renounced violence.
Algeria has tried to heal and rebuild. There have been some periods of stability, but also protests against corruption and lack of 
democracy, especially in 2019. Algeria also got infected with COVID-19.
Economy
The hydrocarbons sector is the backbone of the Algerian economy, accounting for roughly 60% of budget revenues, nearly 30% of GDP, and over 97% of export earnings. Algeria has the ninth-largest reserves of natural gas in the world (2.7% of proven world total) and is the fourth-largest gas exporter; he ranks 14th for oil reserves (2006). His key oil and gas customers are
