Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania, is a small democratic country in the Baltic region of Europe. As a part of the Baltic States, she's the sister of Latvia and Estonia, also is the wife of Poland. Lithuania is a member of NATO, United Nations, World Trade Organization and European Union. She is a developed country with a high income and advanced economy.

Lithuania loves playing basketball and the most religious of the Baltic sisters. Sometimes, she can be suicidal (as her suicidal rate ranks the highest). Her national days are 16 February and 11 March, and she managed to retain have her own culture despite being suffered from being annexed by many other countries throughout history.

Lithuania is bordered by Latvia, Poland and Russia. She often plans with Poland to kidnap Kaliningrad.

Istorija (History)

Lithuania gained independence in 1990, making her first country to gain independence from Soviet Union. This made USSR create a sanction and imposed an economic blockade against her, by not delivering goods to her.

Though the economic relations were restored, a coup were carried by the Soviet Armed Forces, the forces in Moscow thought that they would receive a strong public support. But instead people flooded to Vilnius to defend Lithuanian independence. The Soviet Army killed 14 people and injured hundreds more. A large part of Lithuanian population participated in the January Events. On 31 July 1991, Soviet army killed 7 Lithuanian body guards on Belarusian border. On 17 September 1991, Lithuania was admitted to United Nations.

In 2001, she joined World Trade Organization. She joined NATO in 2004. On 1 January 2015, she joined the Eurozone and adopted the Euro sign as her new money mark.

Lithuania and modern-day ROC established unofficial diplomatic relations in 2021, 31 years after the restoration of Lithuania's independence in 1990. This has been heavily opposed by the People's Republic of China (PRC). Notably, the PRC has downgraded his embassy in Lithuania to the status of a "chargé d'affaires" in protest. Lithuania was the first to officially withdraw from the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (China-CEEC), and the Taiwanese embassy in Vilnius contained the two Chinese characters for the word "Taiwan".

In 2022, Lithuania declared a state of emergency in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Tautiška Giesmė

Tautiška giesmė (National Song) or Lietuvos himnas (Anthem of Lithuania), also known by its incipit Lietuva, Tėvyne mūsų (Lithuania, Our Homeland), is the national anthem of Lithuania. The music and lyrics were written in 1898 by Vincas Kudirka, when Lithuania was still part of the Russian Empire. The fifty-word poem was a condensation of Kudirka's conceptions of the Lithuanian state, the Lithuanian people, and their past. Shortly before his death in 1899, the anthem was performed for Lithuanians living in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
