Egypt, officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a country located near the Middle East, though technically in northeastern Africa. His population is based around the 🌊 Nile River, which has been the lifeblood of Egyptian civilization for millennia. The Nile not only sustains agriculture and provides water for domestic and industrial use but also serves as a central artery for transportation and trade, shaping the country's economy, ⛳ culture, and 📜 history.

As a predominantly ☪️ Muslim nation located in 🌍 North Africa and partly bordering the 🌙 Arabian Peninsula, Egypt holds membership in prominent international organizations such as the 🌍 African Union, 🌙 Arab League, and ☪️ OIC. Additionally, like the vast majority of nations worldwide, Egypt is a member of the 🇺🇳 United Nations.

Egypt is most known for his 𓂀 ancient past, as one of the oldest civilizations. In recent culture, he is known way more for his ancient history than his current geopolitical situation.

History

In 11 September 1971, Egypt renamed himself from the 🇸🇾 United Arab Republic to the Arab Republic of Egypt. President 🇪🇬 Anwar Sadat assumes power after the death of President 🔨 Gamal Abdel Nasser. In 1973, Egypt, under Sadat's leadership, launches the October War (Yom Kippur War) against 🇮🇱 Israel, aiming to regain control of the Sinai Peninsula lost in the 1967 Six-Day War. Though in 1978, Egypt hosts the Camp David Accords, mediated by US President 🇺🇸 Jimmy Carter, leading to a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. This results in Egypt becoming the first 🌙 Arab country to officially recognize Israel.

Egypt, 1981: president Anwar Sadat is assassinated by ﷽ Islamic extremists during a military parade in 🇪🇬 Cairo. 🇪🇬 Hosni Mubarak becomes the new president.

In 1991, Egypt participates in the coalition forces against 🇮🇶 Iraq during the Gulf War, following the invasion of 🇰🇼 Kuwait by 🇮🇶 Saddam Hussein's regime.

The 2011 Egyptian Revolution takes place, leading to the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak after nearly 30 years in power. The revolution was driven by widespread discontent, 🤑 corruption, and demands for political reform. And a year later in 2012, 🏳️ Mohammed Morsi of the 🇪🇬 Freedom and Justice Party, also a member of the ☪️ Muslim Brotherhood, becomes Egypt's first 🗳️ democratically elected president.

In 2013, amidst protests against his rule, Mohammed Morsi is ousted in a military coup led by then-Defense Minister 🇪🇬 Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Subsequently, el-Sisi becomes the new president after winning elections in 2014. In 2015, Egypt launches military operations against militant groups in the Sinai Peninsula, particularly targeting affiliates of 💥 ISIS. And in 2018, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is re-elected as president in a controversial election criticized for lack of genuine competition and allegations of voter suppression.

The 2020s came, and Egypt faces challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting his economy and public health system. 2021 saw the Ever Given, a large container ship from 🇹🇼 Taiwan, blocking the 🌊 Suez Canal. Due to the Suez Canal being one of the world's busiest trade routes, this event disrupted global maritime trade for several days.

In August 2024, Egypt signed a security deal with 🇸🇴 Somalia, sending military equipment and aid.

In mid-June 2025, 🇺🇸 American 🚫 pro-Palestinians wanted to march through Egypt to 🇵🇸 Gaza in their planned "Global March to Gaza", but the police stopped them because it was against the law. The protestors were begging the police to let them through, asking low-IQ questions like "we can do it in America, why can't we do it here?" The march was cancelled.
